Caesars Interactive-owned World Series of Poker has signed an agreement with DraftKings that will see the fantasy sports provider become an official sponsor of the world famous poker tournament. The partnership was secured by Shamrock Sports & Entertainment, WSOP's sponsorship sales agency.
DraftKings will serve as the exclusive fantasy sports sponsor of the event and will host exclusive WSOP-branded fantasy sports satellites offering free entry into the $10m no-deposit Hold’Em main event. Each prize is valued at $12,000, comprising the $10,000 entry fee and $2,000 for travel to Las Vegas.
The company’s head of marketing Anthony Pitts said that DraftKings had long understood the potential for crossover between poker and fantasy sports, describing the partnership as making “perfect sense” for both companies.
“People are looking for more ways to play, and now we can offer just that with affordable satellites into the WSOP.” Pitts said.
“This is the first deal we have made in the fantasy sports space, and we look forward to introducing our avid male audience to the DraftKings brand and product,” Stewart said.
Shamrock worked with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment to transform and leverage a one dimensional food service relationship with Pepsi into an integrated marketing and business alliance with Coca-Cola.
Led by Shamrock, the new SeaWorld & Coca-Cola partnership secured direct revenues 3 times the Pepsi relationship, as well as importantly delivering a new partner who aligns with SeaWorld’s commitment to activation around global conservation.
The Professional Bowlers Association and Wheaties have reached a deal to have the General Mills brand come on as a sponsor for both the 2015 PBA League playoffs later this month as well as for one of the competing clubs.
The deal, expected to be announced this week, provides for on-site signage at the March 28-30 event in Portland, Maine. It also calls for 30-second commercials on the subsequent broadcast coverage of the event.
“We’ve been really working hard to continually make bowling relevant, and we feel like it’s really paying off this year,” said PBA Commissioner Tom Clark. “Wheaties is an iconic brand, and to have them attach their name to us is very exciting.”
Financial terms of the deal were not available. Shamrock Sports & Entertainment, the PBA’s strategic marketing and sales agency, negotiated the agreement.
In addition to the event signage and broadcast time, Wheaties will sponsor PBA League team L.A. X, which is owned by Los Angeles Clippers all-star Chris Paul. The league portion of the PBA’s schedule stands out to potential sponsors because it features teams competing rather than individuals, Clark said.
